Uganda police have disclosed additional details about the tragic killing of Kampala-based attorney Ronald Mukisa, known as Ronnie, in Kajjansi off Entebbe Road. Authorities have revealed that he was subjected to a fatal multiple gunshot attack to his head.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police, shared the developments with ChimpReports, the outlet that first reported the incident. The murder transpired on the night of May 30, 2023, in Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo, Wakiso District.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old lawyer Mukisa Ronnie, employed at IBC Advocates situated in Namanda Plaza, Kampala.
According to initial police reports, Mukisa typically returned home late, but on the night in question, he arrived at his apartment parking lot at around 11:30 p.m. After parking his dark blue Subaru Legacy with the registration number UBJ 006K, he proceeded to close the gate. It was during this return to his apartment that neighbors were startled by gunshots, prompting them to investigate the disturbance.
Eyewitness statements indicate that an unidentified individual was observed shooting at Mr. Mukisa. The assailant briefly retreated before returning to shoot him multiple times at close range in the head. After the attack, the assailant swiftly fled the scene on a waiting motorcycle, with the direction of escape remaining unknown.
This tragic incident occurs amidst a rising wave of gun violence within the country. The famous Ugandan vlogger, Ibrahim Tusubilwa, also known as Isma Jaja Iculi, lost his life under mysterious circumstances on March 6 in Kampala. He too was ambushed and fatally shot outside his residence in Kyanja, Kampala. The perpetrators, similar to Isma’s case, made a quick getaway on a waiting motorcycle. These gun-related deaths have raised concerns about the presence of an organized criminal gang in the country, arbitrarily taking lives.
Despite these unsettling events, the police have yet to make any arrests in Isma’s murder case.
In response to Mukisa’s murder, Kajjansi Police Station took immediate action upon receiving the incident report. A team was dispatched to the scene, and canines were introduced to aid in the investigation. Regrettably, the trail was lost along the way. Nevertheless, a search of the crime scene led to the discovery of four projectiles and cartridges.
Mukisa’s body was recovered and conveyed to the city mortuary at Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem examination. Kajjansi Police Station is actively conducting inquiries to gather more information and establish the motive behind this appalling crime.
The police have assured the public that every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s) and bring them to justice. They urge anyone with pertinent information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
