Kasese Carpenter Collapses and Dies on Way to Work

Police in Kasese are investigating a sudden death that occurred this morning in Kilembe Quarters, Kasese Municipality, after a local carpenter collapsed and died while on his way to work.

The deceased, identified as Gabriel Mugabi, a carpenter in his early 40s, reportedly collapsed while crossing the road around 9:00 a.m. He died on the spot.

The Homicide Unit from Kasese Central Police Station (CPS) swiftly responded to the incident, and the body was transported to Kasese Municipal Council Health Centre III for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Speaking about the incident, Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, advised the public to take personal health seriously.

“Sudden deaths are often linked to chronic illnesses such as hypertension and heart disease,” said SP Tumushime. “We encourage residents to prioritise regular medical checkups, healthy eating, exercise, and stress management to reduce such risks.”

Police say investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be shared after the postmortem results are released.
