Kyenjojo: Two Arrested Over Kidnap and Murder of 7-Year-Old Boy

Police in Kyenjojo District have arrested two men suspected of kidnapping and killing a seven-year-old boy, in a case that has shocked residents of Isoroma Village, Kisojo Sub-county.

The suspects, identified as Isaiah Manyindo alias Bala, 26, and Erias Twimukye, 17, were apprehended following investigations into the disappearance and death of Osbert Turinayo, 7.

According to the Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, the incident occurred on June 12 when the child had gone to watch a movie at a nearby bar together with his brothers. However, when the brothers returned home later that night, Osbert did not come back with them.

Family members and residents immediately launched a search, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The matter was reported to police the following day, prompting an investigation.

On June 15, the family reportedly received a phone call from an unknown person demanding a ransom of UGX 1.5 million for the boy’s release, with a warning that he would be killed if the money was not paid.

Police intelligence teams later tracked and arrested the two suspects in connection with the case. During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and led officers to a location where the child’s body was found covered with tree leaves.

The body was taken to Kyenjojo Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Kituuma Rusoke said the incident raises serious concerns about child safety and parental supervision in communities.

He questioned how a seven-year-old child could be left at a bar late in the evening, noting that such negligence contributes to preventable tragedies.

While confirming that the suspects will face prosecution, police expressed regret over the loss of life and urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to be more vigilant in protecting children.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
