Police in Rubanda District are investigating the suspected murder of a 65-year-old man whose body was discovered on Saturday morning along the road near his home.
The deceased was identified as Ruhugye Zaverio, a resident of Nyakayenje cell, Kitojo parish, in Bubare sub-county. He was last seen on Friday evening after grazing his cattle before going to Hakabungo Trading Centre.
According to police, Zaverio’s wife went to the trading centre around 1 a.m. to look for him after he didn’t return home, but she couldn’t find him.
His son, Agaba Urban, discovered his body around 6:30 a.m. while on his way home from his shop in the same trading center.
After discovering the body, Agaba raised an alarm, which drew residents who then reported the incident to the police. The scene was documented, and a postmortem was conducted on-site.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and urged the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits. Maate stated that inquiries are ongoing.
