Rubanda Police Arrest Two Over Attack on Minister Musasizi’s Campaign Agent

Police in Rubanda District have arrested two suspects in connection with the assault of an elderly woman and the defacing of political campaign posters belonging to Minister Henry Musasizi.

The suspects, identified as Ndamwesiga Bruno and Ainebyona Isaac, both residents of Kabugu Village, Bushura Parish in Hamuhambo Town Council, were arrested for allegedly attacking 68-year-old Danavence Tumwebaze, a political agent of Hon. Minister Musasizi.




According to police reports, the first incident occurred around midnight on June 29, 2025, when the suspects allegedly threw stones at Tumwebaze’s house and threatened to burn it. The victim stated that she overheard them vowing to remove the minister’s posters from her premises.




On July 5, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM, the threats escalated. Ainebyona allegedly broke into Tumwebaze’s home, tore down a campaign poster, smashed a plate, and physically assaulted her by kicking.




Rubanda District Police Commander Barugahare Abel Kyooto led the operation that resulted in the suspects’ arrest. They are currently in police custody and will be charged in court as investigations continue.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the arrests and cautioned the public against engaging in politically motivated violence. He emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and security ahead of the 2026 general elections.
