Schoolgirl Critically Injured in Bushenyi Hit-and-Run

Police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred on May 8th, 2024, around 3:00 PM at Nyakabirizi along the Bushenyi-Kasese highway.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the accident involving a red Bajaj motorcycle with registration number UFZ 229G and a pedestrian.




The victim, identified as Tracy Akampa, an 11-year-old female pupil at Nyamiko Primary School and a resident of Nyakahita village, Nyakabirizi Division in Ishaka Municipality, was critically injured in the incident.




According to reports, the Bajaj motorcycle, traveling from Mbarara towards Bushenyi, collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the road from Nyakabirizi market to the opposite side.




Following the collision, the rider fled the scene with the motorcycle, leaving the victim injured. Tracy Akampa was swiftly taken to Bushenyi Medical Center for urgent medical attention, while investigations into the incident continue.
