Police in Mbarara City are hunting for a private security guard who allegedly shot and killed his colleague at the Ankole Farmers’ Sacco offices in Biharwe on Sunday, January 19th.
According to the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, SP Samson Kasasira, the deceased has been identified as Justus Mwetise, a security guard employed by Sting Private Security Company.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mwetise was fatally shot by his colleague, Alex Nayebare, with whom he was working at the time.
Following the shooting, Nayebare reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the rifle used in the crime at the scene. He is currently at large and is being actively sought by police.
Mwetise’s body was discovered seated in a chair, with his rifle strapped to his chest and surrounded by blood. The body has since been transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
