Police in the Albertine region are searching for a security guard who allegedly stole a pistol. The suspect, identified as Peter Okeng, 42, is a resident of Katama cell in Masindi Municipality and works as a security guard with Saracen Security Company.
According to information obtained by Uganda Radio Network (URN), Okeng was deployed by his supervisor on July 5, 2024, to guard the Post Bank Masindi branch. He was deployed alongside Ambrose Odyek, also from the same security company.
Desmond Odoch, the supervisor at Saracen Security Company, stated that Okeng signed for a pistol with the registration number UG.PSO 10026906273, along with 10 rounds of ammunition, as part of his deployment. Okeng was assigned to guard the area behind the Post Bank, while Odyek was stationed in front of the bank.
However, on that night, Okeng disappeared with the pistol, and his current whereabouts are unknown. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, confirmed that the case was reported to Masindi Central Police Station.
Investigations have commenced, and efforts are underway to trace the suspect for apprehension and subsequent charges.
