Body of Missing Otuke Man Found Floating in River

Police authorities in Otuke district, situated within the North Kyoga Region, have initiated an investigation into the tragic death of a 37-year-old resident of Otuke town council.

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Police Public Relations Officer for the North Kyoga Region, disclosed that the territorial police in Otuke district are looking into the suspected drowning death of Egaro Sam, a 37-year-old individual residing in Ocuri-Icak cell, Oget ward, Otuke Town Council.

The investigation stems from allegations that Egaro Sam went missing from his residence on November 1, 2023, around 21:30 hours. Subsequently, his wife, Akello Teddy, reported his disappearance at Otuke Central Police Station under SD REF 15/03/11/2023 on November 3, 2023.

Tragically, on November 6, 2023, his lifeless body was discovered floating in the waters of River Moroto at Elimakec cell, Oget ward, Otuke Town Council, Otuke District.

SP Okema emphasized that a team of police officers from Otuke police station visited and meticulously documented the scene of the incident. Statements from witnesses present at the scene were collected by the police.

Additionally, the body was recovered from the water and transported to Orum Health Centre IV pending a postmortem examination.

SP Okema, the North Kyoga Region police spokesperson, stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the precise sequence of events leading to the tragic incident.

The statement was issued to the media on Monday afternoon.
