Katikkiro (Prime Minister) Charles Peter Mayiga has urged members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) to demonstrate wisdom in their actions, emphasizing the importance of unity and respect.
Mayiga emphasized that while they may not always agree, it is essential to maintain a respectful dialogue and work towards common goals.
He further stressed that amidst the challenges facing the country, it is crucial to avoid divisive rhetoric and focus on fostering a sense of unity and cooperation. This, he believes, is vital for the progress and stability of both Buganda and the nation as a whole.
Speaking at the Bulange in Mengo on Saturday during a meeting with some members of the NUP who were recently elected to represent their constituencies in Parliament, Mayiga addressed concerns about the growing tension within the party.
He urged them to prioritize the collective good over personal interests and emphasized the need for dialogue and compromise to resolve differences. Mayiga cautioned against actions that could lead to further division within the party, emphasizing the importance of unity in achieving their objectives.
Members of the NUP visited the Bulange to purchase the gifts for the Kabaka’s upcoming birthday on April 7, 2024.
Joel Ssenyonyi, speaking on behalf of the NUP, acknowledged Mayiga’s call for unity and assured him that they would strive to uphold the Kabaka’s injunctions. They presented the traditional gifts, signifying their respect and allegiance to the Kabaka’s authority.
