The Teso cultural leader, His Royal Highness Papa Sunday, has encouraged the Government to always include the youth in all its programs from EMYOOGA onwards.
This was said during a training of youth leaders in the Teso cultural institutions at the Teso Cultural Institution located a few kilometers from Soroti Hotel. The above remarks were made by the youth minister in the Teso cultural institution on behalf of the Emorimor during the training of youth on income-generating skills gathered from all the subclans of Teso.
The same message has also been echoed by the Inzu Ya Masaba cultural leader, His Royal Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, who has a very robust plan for the youth in Bugisu region and beyond. Both Teso and Bugisu are in advanced stages of constructing their official palaces, and the youth were also encouraged to play a very vital role in this process.
The National Coordinator of the EMYOOGA fund, Hon. Ritah Namuwenge, says that youth have a financial platform availed to them by the Government in the form of the EMYOOGA fund and should form SACCOs in order to benefit from the revolving fund. Cultural institutions are a creation of the law and are meant to enable communities to celebrate their culture and are also a tool for community empowerment and development.
Cultural leaders in Uganda are restrained from exercising legislative and executive powers; they are instead designated as custodians of morals, mores, culture, and other customary practices.
