Kazo District, Uganda — The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, will on 7th May 2026 lead a large-scale tree-planting exercise in Kazo District, in an event that doubles as a continuation of his 52nd birthday celebrations and a tribute to President Yoweri Museveni’s overwhelming electoral victory in the area.
Gen Muhoozi turned 52 on 24th April last month with celebrations now extending into a community-focused initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation.
The Kazo event is being organised under the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), a platform through which the General has been mobilising youth and communities across the country.
The exercise will also celebrate President Museveni’s 99.71% vote share in Kazo District one of his strongest performances nationally, seen by supporters as a clear sign of continued grassroots support.
Participants drawn from local communities, political leaders, and security forces are expected to plant trees across selected sites in the district, reinforcing calls for environmental protection and climate action.
Organisers say the initiative reflects Gen Muhoozi’s growing emphasis on combining national service with community engagement.
“This is not just a celebration, but a call to action. Protecting the environment is a responsibility we all share,” one organiser noted.
Kazo District, located in the Ankole sub-region, remains a key political stronghold for President Museveni, and the 7th May activities are expected to attract significant public interest, blending celebration, mobilisation, and sustainability efforts.
Gen Muhoozi, who also serves as Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, has increasingly taken part in public campaigns that link national leadership with grassroots initiatives.
The upcoming event is expected to draw supporters from across the region, turning the occasion into both a symbolic birthday commemoration and a public show of loyalty to the President.
