Eng. Benjamin Olobo Appointed to Uganda Railways Corporation Board

Eng. Benjamin Olobo has been appointed to the Board of Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) by the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen Katumba Wamala. This appointment comes as Eng. Olobo steps into the shoes of Eng. Robert Kafeero Sekitoleko, who has transitioned to the role of Chief Mechanical Engineer within the organization.

Eng. Olobo brings with him a wealth of expertise in civil engineering, holding a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in civil engineering from Makerere University, as well as postgraduate qualifications including an MSc in Highway Engineering and Management from the University of Birmingham, an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, and an MSc in Finance and Economic Policy from the University of London, among others.




With over 15 years of experience under his belt, Eng. Olobo has demonstrated his proficiency in delivering comprehensive advisory and technical solutions for large-scale transport infrastructure projects across Sub Saharan Africa, West Europe, and the South Pacific Islands.




Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) operates as a corporate entity under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Works and Transport. Established in accordance with the Uganda Railways Corporation Act, Cap 331, URC is mandated to provide railway, marine, and road services both domestically and internationally for the transportation of goods and passengers.




URC boasts an extensive network comprising a total track length of 1,266 km, facilitating the movement of goods and passengers efficiently and effectively across the country.
