The Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, along with other senior police officers, participated in a blood donation drive at the Police Headquarters in Naguru. This initiative was part of the activities to commemorate African Public Service Day.

The participation of police officers in this blood donation activity underscores their dedication to community service and life-saving efforts, which are central to their mission. By donating blood, they extend a helping hand to those in need, directly contributing to saving lives and fostering a culture of generosity and social responsibility.

The theme for this year’s African Public Service Day, “Empowering a citizen-centric public service for an inclusive and thriving 21st century Africa,” aligns well with this initiative. It emphasizes the importance of service focused on citizens and continuous positive transformation.

IGP Byakagaba encouraged more police officers to join in donating blood to help those in need. He highlighted that such actions not only support individuals in critical need of blood but also strengthen the bond between the police force and the community they serve.

The chief guest for the event was Ms. Catherine Birakwate, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service. She commended the police for their active role in promoting public welfare and encouraged other public servants to follow their example.
