US Government Provides Hospital Storage to Uganda’s Defence Forces

The United States government has given a new hospital storage facility to the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF). This facility is located at the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre (URDCC) in Jinja Cantonment, Gaddafi Barracks.

During the handover ceremony today, Brigadier General Peter Gaetano Omola, who is the Commandant of URDCC, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing cooperation between Uganda and the United States. He thanked the US government for helping to build the capacity and capabilities of the UPDF.




On behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces of the UPDF, Brigadier General Omola conveyed his thanks to the US government. He appreciated their steady support, which has greatly contributed to the current abilities of the UPDF and URDCC. He emphasized that their achievements are possible because of this support, which has been consistent over time.




Brigadier General Omola pointed out that the hospital storage facility is now fully complete. He stressed the importance of this facility in improving the UPDF’s medical capabilities.




Lieutenant Colonel Christian Noumba, the US Defence Adviser to Uganda, reaffirmed the US commitment to improving medical capabilities in peacekeeping missions. He mentioned that this facility will significantly support the UPDF’s efforts in the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia.

The event was attended by several high-ranking officials including Brigadier General Flavia Byekwaso, Chief of Staff at URDCC; Colonel Joseph Okalebo, Deputy Chief of Staff at URDCC; Colonel Alex Afayoa, Administrative Officer at URDCC; and Master Sergeant Njoroge Francis from the US Army. Other distinguished guests were also present at the ceremony.
