The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) expressed its commitment to providing employment opportunities to Ugandan youth during the ongoing ICT job fair at Kololo Independence Grounds. NWSC’s Public Relations and Communications Manager, Sheba Bamwine, highlighted the vast employment possibilities available due to their water provision services spanning 273 towns and 79 districts across Uganda.

NWSC extends employment opportunities not only in water management but also in fields such as ICT, human resources, engineering, accounting, finance, and environmental management. Bamwine further explained that NWSC offers part-time and permanent employment options, often collaborating with universities to provide internships. Graduates, too, can benefit from NWSC’s training programs, aimed at enhancing their skills and practical knowledge.

The corporation actively advertises job openings both internally and externally, encouraging career growth within its workforce.

Skills development and training are pivotal at NWSC, with a robust program operating at their Vocational Skills Development Facility in partnership with the Directorate of Industrial Training within the Ministry of Education. Training centers are established across the country, including the primary center in Gaba, Western Region Resource Center (WESREC) in Bushenyi, Mbale Training Hub for the eastern region, and the Kachung Training Hub in Lira, covering Northern Uganda and West Nile.

NWSC offers training in various fields, including plumbing, electro-mechanical technicians, water quality control, water treatment, sewerage service, welding, fabrication, heavy equipment operation, and borehole maintenance, among others.

NWSC’s dedication to customer service is evident in their digital initiatives, such as bill issuance, statement checks, and online bill payments, making services more accessible to customers. As part of their customer-centric approach, NWSC recently launched a month-long amnesty campaign.

This initiative encourages customers to report illegal water connections at their premises without facing fines. NWSC promises to rectify such connections without extensive inquiries during this campaign, fostering collaboration with their customers to maintain quality services.
