Reports circulating on social media suggest that Hon. Zahara Marah Luyirika, an aspirant for the Kampala Woman MP seat, recently paid a private visit to Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi in Magere. The claims, first shared by popular Facebook blogger Ritah Kaggwa, allege that the meeting was intended to clear the air on persistent rumours linking Luyirika to Bobi Wine.

According to the blogger, Luyirika allegedly arrived with her mother and other family members, who were warmly received before being ushered into the Kyagulanyi home. It is further claimed that Luyirika went on bended knees and pleaded her case to Barbie, explaining that the rumours about her were the work of political rivals seeking to tarnish her name ahead of the party primaries.

The same reports suggest that Barbie had initially been unhappy with Luyirika over the gossip, which some say had placed Luyirika’s chances of winning the party flag at just 2%. It was also alleged that Barbie had favoured Hon. Shamim Malende for the ticket instead.

However, the supposed “harmonization” meeting between the two women has reportedly eased tensions, with observers now saying the race has become unpredictable.

The online reports further claim that Hon. Malende’s camp is unsettled, given that she has also faced internal criticism from some senior party members. Allegations that she may have benefited from government money—claims she has consistently denied—are said to be adding pressure to her camp.

While none of the parties involved have publicly confirmed the story, the blogger’s claims have stirred debate among political watchers. If true, the reconciliation could reshape the dynamics of the Kampala Woman MP flag bearer race, with both Luyirika and Malende facing scrutiny from within the party.

Editor’s note: The above account is based on allegations shared by         Facebook blogger Ritah Kaggwa. Neither Hon. Zahara Marah Luyirika, Barbie Kyagulanyi, nor Hon. Shamim Malende have officially commented on the claims.
