Honorable Minister Betty Amongi Akena has made a contribution of 10 million shillings in cash to Ngetta Ginery Yaweah Pentecostal Church-Bethel Assembly. The Minister of Labour, Gender, and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi Akena, has once again shown her economic generosity by donating 10 million shillings to the Christians of Ngetta Ginery Yaweah Pentecostal Assembly.
This took place during a fundraising organized by the church on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Ngetta Ginery “B” Cell, Ngeta Ginery Ward, Lira City West Division. Minister Betty advised women to take care of the church, work hard, and be involved in wealth creation and socio-economic transformation programs, as emphasized by H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni Kaguta.
“As leaders, we are aware that the best work of the church is to teach good morals to the children and prepare them to be good responsible citizens in the future,” she added, “I have noticed that in a family where people pray, the crime rate reduces,” said Minister Amongi. “So, we build the church to create good morals and to preach the word of God to the congregation.”
She commended President Yoweri Museveni about wealth creation like PDM and requested the women who were in the church to benefit from a moderate interest loan that can be obtained at only ten percent, with full repayment made after a one-year period and generally at a low interest rate. She encouraged them to form groups and obtain such low-interest loans from Lira City.
According to her, PDM has been put in place among other good government programs that she really appreciated and added that unity is the way to go for the people of Lango if we are to develop instead of fighting one another or pulling ropes.
Honorable Vincent Shedrick Obong Eyit, the MP for Lira City West Division, during his speech, contributed 20 bags of cement and a total of one million shillings meant for building the church. Recently, MP Obong Shedrick Eyit gave one million shillings to support Ngetta Ginery Yaweah Pentecostal Church-Bethel Assembly. He promised to contribute three (3) million shillings next year (in January 2024) to join Yaweah women groups VSLA to empower them financially.
The speaker of Lira City West Division, Honorable Okello Daniel, contributed 200,000 shillings and thanked members of the church who have come together to contribute to building the church of God. He continued that if the time comes, they should remember to stand with him politically.
Geoffrey Etwop, a Lira-based businessman, congratulated Hon. Minister Amongi Betty for a wonderful contribution of 10 million shillings. He thanked her for giving back to God at the right time and called upon other leaders to follow the example of Hon. Betty Amongi.
One of the leaders of Ngetta Ginery Yaweah Pentecostal Church-Bethel Assembly who spoke on condition of anonymity said Amongi is a gift from God. He requested her to frequent the church and congratulated her for such a wonderful kind of donation to the children of God in Ngetta.
