The Swiss Barakah charitable organization, based in Mbale, has partnered with the KAZI NI KAZI Foundation to provide food relief to flood victims in Palam, Katakwi district.
After visiting the flood-affected residents of Palam, Mulalu, the Senior Private Secretary in charge of Political Mobilization and Affairs in the President’s Office, concluded that immediate action was necessary due to the severity of the floods.
200 bags of posho food relief, valued at millions of shillings, were donated to victims of the Palam floods by Daniel Mulalu, the President’s Private Secretary in charge of Political Mobilization and Affairs.
Flood victims Betty Isike, Francis Adoket, and Emmanuel Ojirot, locals of Palam who received 10 kilograms of posho each, praised Mulalu’s lobbying efforts with the Barakah charity. They called it a timely rescue and described him as a true leader.
According to them, Mulalu has saved them from spending UGX 24,000 on 10 kilograms of posho due to a shortage of funds.
Simon Peter Seno, a member of the KAZI NI KAZI Foundation, stated that they are committed to combating poverty and improving the lives of communities.
Imaikorit, the General Chairman of LC Ones in Palam sub-county, requested that food aid be extended to the villages of Aleles, Lia, Aelenyang, Arusiakan, Oramon, Olioangoi, and Olilim.
Betty Abur, the District Councilor representing Palam, stated that the district has received a contribution of 300 tents from OPM, as well as a government donation of 300 tarpaulins to flood-affected sub-counties.
The LCV Geoffrey Omolo expressed gratitude for Swiss Barakah’s quick action and called for additional stakeholder aid.
Daniel Mulalu Ngariam, when contacted by phone, pledged that as Ngariam’s son, he would support his people in the aftermath of floods that had destroyed hundreds of gardens and residences. He stated that because Katakwi is difficult to reach and prone to calamity, the government should set aside funding for floods and droughts.
