President Museveni has conducted a reshuffle in his cabinet, announcing the appointment of several new ministers today at the presidential palace in Entebbe.

Among the notable appointments is Phiona Nyamutoro, a seasoned advocate for agriculture and rural development, who has been appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. Nyamutoro, known for her dedication to rural empowerment, has received widespread support. Additionally, the renowned musician Ediriisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, has been appointed as the Minister of Entertainment, reflecting the government’s recognition of the importance of the entertainment industry in Uganda’s cultural landscape.

Balaam Barugahara, a prominent youth and children’s rights advocate, has assumed the role of Minister for Youth and Sports, succeeding Ali Kateregga from the National Unity Platform (NUP), who has been vocal in his criticism of the government’s policies. Kateregga was detained following clashes with security forces during protests over alleged electoral irregularities. Despite his arrest, President Museveni has emphasized the importance of due process and has not interfered with Kateregga’s legal proceedings.
