MBARARA, Uganda — A first-year student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has died following a road accident along the Isingiro-Mbarara Road.
The deceased, Anitah Ainembabazi Keitesi, was pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences. She died on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
According to reports, Keitesi was travelling back to campus on Sunday after attending the burial of her aunt at their home in Butenga Village, Isingiro District, over the weekend.
She was travelling on a boda boda when the crash occurred shortly after Kaberebere Town along the Isingiro-Mbarara Road.
Keitesi sustained serious injuries in the accident and later died from the injuries.
Details surrounding the exact cause of the crash, including whether other vehicles were involved, had not been established at the time of reporting.
Her death has left fellow students, friends and relatives mourning the loss of a young university student whose life was cut short while returning to campus.
