Ms Namayanja’s recognition is primarily attributed to her impactful work through the Rose Namayanja Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting socio-economic transformation. The foundation focuses on initiatives related to healthy communities, leadership, education, and business entrepreneurship.
Success Magazine describes Ms Namayanja’s story as that of an extraordinary transformation, highlighting her perseverance despite being born into severe poverty in a war-ravaged region of Luweero, Uganda. The magazine notes her relentless pursuit of academic qualifications and elective posts, overcoming challenges with determination.
The foundation, under Ms Namayanja’s leadership, has made significant contributions to community development. In 2020, the foundation expanded and equipped Biddabugya Health Centre III in Nakaseke District, serving nearly 50,000 people. Ms Namayanja’s impact also extends to providing 200 scholarships to financially challenged learners from primary to university levels.
Ms Namayanja’s commitment to empowering the youth is evident in her foundation’s efforts, providing financial literacy to over 500 youth leaders and creating 100 micro-enterprises for women, youth, and the elderly. Her holistic approach to community development has garnered praise and positive testimonials from beneficiaries.
In response to her nomination, Ms Namayanja emphasized that making contributions to society does not require an elected leadership position. She expressed gratitude for the recognition by various stakeholders and highlighted the importance of diverse contributions in society.
The February-March 2024 edition of Success Magazine is set to feature Ms Rose Namayanja and the other 49 women who have been selected as finalists for the Women of Influence Award.
