The Member of Parliament for Igara East County, NRM flag bearer, and Director of Mobilisation at the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Hon. Mawanda Maranga Michael, has intensified grassroots mobilisation across Bushenyi District as the ruling party prepares for the forthcoming general elections.
Hon. Mawanda, accompanied by the NRM Bushenyi District Secretariat, addressed enthusiastic supporters who gathered to welcome him in Ruhumuro Sub-county
He rallied residents to support NRM flag bearers at all levels and the party’s presidential candidate, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, emphasizing unity, discipline, and active participation in the electoral process.
The mobilisation drive also extended to Kyabugimbi Town Council, where jubilant NRM supporters from Kyabugimbi Town Council, Bijengye Parish, and Bujaga Parish turned up in large numbers to demonstrate their support for the ruling party.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Mawanda, who also serves as NRM Treasurer for Bushenyi District, commended party supporters for their loyalty and urged them to remain steadfast as the campaign period gains momentum.
He noted that the NRM leadership remains committed to ensuring that its supporters benefit from government programmes and party structures, adding that effective mobilisation at the grassroots is key to sustaining the party’s dominance in the district.
Further engagements were held in Kajunju and Kyeigombe parishes in Kyabugimbi Sub-county, where Hon. Mawanda interacted with community members and local leaders. During these meetings, he pledged continued support for youth, women, and boda boda riders, highlighting the importance of inclusive participation in development initiatives.
The visits, conducted alongside the NRM District Secretariat, reflect the party’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots base in Bushenyi District. The ongoing mobilisation signals the NRM’s determination to consolidate support ahead of the general elections.
