Obongi District to Receive 600 Iron Sheets for Worship Places

Obongi district is set to benefit from a donation of over 600 iron sheets intended for roofing churches, mosques, and the residence of the late district Kadhi of Obongi.

The donation, lobbied by Woman Member of Parliament for Obongi, Hon. Maneno Zumura, and MP for Obongi constituency, Hon. Dr. Boka George Didi, has been secured through the office of the Prime Minister (OPM). This information was shared exclusively with our news desk during a Saturday evening interview with Woman MP Hon. Maneno Zumura and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC).

A team from OPM has been dispatched by the Prime Minister to verify the worship places and facilitate the distribution of the iron sheets in Obongi district. Woman MP Hon. Maneno Zumura and RDC Samuel Mpimbasa Hasaka accompanied the OPM team during their visit to the worship places on Saturday.

Hon. Maneno explained that the iron sheets would enhance the places of worship, responding to requests from believers who sought assistance in lobbying for roofing materials for their places of worship.

MP Boka George Didi urged the community to coordinate with them, emphasizing the need for organization under different groups to facilitate new developments in the district. He mentioned that tractors had already been lobbied, and the distribution of iron sheets to selected worship places by OPM would follow soon. He pledged ongoing collaboration with the community to introduce innovative projects.

RDC Samuel Mpimbasa Hasaka congratulated the government of Uganda, especially President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for this initiative that extends development, including in the religious sector. He assured that more government programs were in the pipeline and urged everyone to collaborate closely with the NRM government for comprehensive development in Obongi and other regions.

The following places are set to benefit from the OPM’s donation of iron sheets:

  1. Liwa Mosque in Liwa North Village, Liwa Parish, Gimara Sub-county – 110 iron sheets.
  2. Aringajobi Mosque in Mbale South Village, Aringajobi Parish, Aliba Sub-county – 180 iron sheets.
  3. Indilinga Catholic Church in Aliba Sub-county – 120 iron sheets.
  4. Home of the late Obongi district Kadhi, late Diriga Fulujala, in Town West Kilami Ward, Obongi Town Council – 100 iron sheets.
