With support from Omoro Woman MP, Hon. Catherine Lamwaka, many young mothers and school dropouts in Omoro district now have reasons to smile after gaining life skills at different skill training centers opened by Catherine Lamwaka.
She inaugurated skill training centers in both Omoro County and Tochi County. In Tochi County, the centers were established in 2022 at St. Thomas Catholic Parish for hairdressing, tailoring, and bakery. Currently, over 50 young mothers are receiving training, with over 100 having completed their courses.
In Omoro County, Omoro district, a center was opened at St. Peter Church of Uganda, Awere, last year. Presently, 400 girls are undergoing training at this center.
Irine Apio, a beneficiary from St. Thomas skill training center, shares her experience. Since dropping out of school in 2018 due to pregnancy, she had been facing difficulties in the village while caring for her baby. However, now she earns money through hairdressing, which has improved her situation.
Another beneficiary, Alaro Monica, reports increased income from tailoring. By securing contracts with many schools for making school uniforms, she has transformed her life and her family’s.
Omoro Woman MP Catherine Lamwaka is dedicated, like others, to uplifting youths through business and agricultural activities.
