Mbale, Uganda — Equity Bank joined the people of Bugisu in celebrating the Omukuka’s second coronation anniversary through its sponsorship of the Omukuka Coronation Golf Tournament, held on 4th October 2025 at the Mbale Golf Course.
The colorful event attracted golfers from across the region, including staff from Equity Bank, who teed off in honor of His Royal Highness Mike Jude Mudoma, the Umukuka of Bugisu. The tournament formed part of the week-long activities to mark the King’s second anniversary on the throne, celebrating unity, sportsmanship, and community development in the region.
Speaking at the event, Equity Bank officials reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting cultural institutions, promoting social cohesion, and driving inclusive development through partnerships that inspire progress.
In the same vein, the Bank also joined the Umukuka—who is a strong advocate for environmental conservation—in a tree planting exercise at the Golf Course and Doko Cell. The initiative is part of Equity Bank’s wider plan to plant 60,000 trees across Bugisu and Kigezi subregions over the next two years.
During the celebrations, the Umukuka met and interacted with Equity Leaders Program (ELP) Scholars from the region, commending the Bank for its continued investment in youth empowerment and education. On behalf of the Bank, Virginia Ssemakula, Pillar Head for Energy, Environment, and Climate Change, presented a special gift to the King in recognition of his leadership and partnership.
