President Museveni to Open Hellen Seku-Led State House Extension in Muyenga

Kampala is set to buzz with excitement on 24th September 2024, as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni prepares to inaugurate his new office located in Muyenga, Makindye Division. This significant event will be led by Hon. Hellen Seku, the Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) at State House. Her role involves mobilizing citizens across Uganda to embrace the core principles of patriotism and wealth creation.

Hon. Hellen Seku has extended a warm invitation to the general public, as well as leaders from various government institutions, to attend the ceremony. The event will take place at Hotel International in Muyenga, where President Museveni will have the opportunity to interact with members of informal sector pressure groups from different regions of Uganda. This gathering promises to be a milestone for the Uganda Patriotic Corps and ardent supporters of President Museveni.

Over the past 19 months, Hellen Seku has been actively traversing the country, forging alliances with informal sector groups and pressure groups committed to fostering wealth creation, peace, and development. Her efforts have led to the identification and training of over 190,000 Uganda Patriotic Corps members nationwide. This remarkable achievement has surpassed the NSPC’s initial annual target of 75,000, underscoring the success of her initiatives.

Supporters of President Museveni have expressed their appreciation for Hellen Seku’s approachable demeanor and her genuine commitment to serving the community. Oketcho Peter, a dedicated supporter, remarked, “President Museveni needs more Hellen Sekus. Many NRM supporters and Ugandans in general will benefit from the programs and projects available, including the Parish Development Model.” This sentiment reflects the growing recognition of Hellen’s impact on the grassroots level.

However, not all experiences at NRM offices have been positive, according to Sonko Simon Peter, who noted, “I have been to NRM offices, but all I saw was arrogance and visitors being frustrated. Hellen Seku has made her office a complaint desk where we can voice our concerns, as no one else listens to us apart from her.” This underscores the vital role Hellen Seku plays in bridging the gap between the government and the public.

Hellen Seku is widely trusted by NRM supporters and informal sector groups alike. As she gears up for the 2026 presidential elections, her commitment to working with pressure groups is expected to yield significant dividends for President Museveni. Saidi Masajagge highlighted the importance of these connections, stating, “These known pressure groups in the informal sector have direct links with the people, and it’s good that Hon. Hellen is working with them.”

Hellen believes that effective mobilization requires both skills and a direct connection to grassroots communities. Recognizing that mobilization is predominantly centered on the youth, she has made it a priority to engage this demographic. By collaborating with the Uganda Patriotic Corps and pro-Drive Rally Addicts, Hellen aims to enhance community engagement and mobilization for President Museveni, emphasizing the values of patriotism, peace, and development.

The NSPC is a government initiative dedicated to promoting patriotism across Uganda. It serves as a comprehensive platform providing information about its projects, activities, media coverage, and upcoming events. The NSPC’s mission is to foster national pride, civic engagement, and support for government initiatives and community events.

In her commitment to instilling the values of patriotism among students in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, and the informal sector, Hellen Seku appeals to the government for tangible support for unemployed patriotic youths. She emphasizes the need for equipping them with valuable skills to thrive in the economy. As the opening of the new State House extension approaches, the excitement surrounding Hellen Seku’s initiatives and President Museveni’s leadership continues to build, promising a bright future for Uganda.
