Rubirizi: Archbishop Bainomugisha Confirms 290, Urges Christians to Dress Modestly and Avoid Phones During Mass

Tugume Muzafaru | RUBIRIZI, Uganda – The Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese, His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha, has urged Christians to abandon sinful behaviour and uphold holiness while in church and in their daily lives.

Archbishop Bainomugisha made the call on Sunday during a confirmation ceremony for 290 Christians at Kyamwiru Catholic Parish in Katerera Town Council, Rubirizi District.

During his sermon, the Archbishop emphasized the importance of modest dressing in church, condemning the habit of wearing mini skirts and tight-fitting clothes during Mass. He also criticized the increasing tendency of some Christians to spend time using mobile phones during church services, saying it distracts believers from prayer and respect for the Holy Eucharist.

He encouraged young people to become role models in their communities, urging them to strengthen their faith through prayer and actively spread the Gospel.

The Archbishop further called on the youth to love and trust God, respect one another, and live virtuous lives. He also reminded parents of their responsibility to raise children with strong moral values, while advising children to respect and obey their parents.

The Parish Priest of Kyamwiru Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Faaza Amen Mukasa, said the Archbishop’s visit was aimed at confirming 290 Christians in their faith. He urged the newly confirmed believers to live exemplary lives and serve as good ambassadors of the Church in their communities.

Fr. Mukasa also highlighted some of the parish’s achievements and ongoing plans, including completing the church building and launching other development projects. He thanked Christians of Kyamwiru Parish for their cooperation and support towards the church’s activities.

He further advised the newly confirmed Christians to keep their confirmation documents safely, noting that they would be required for future church sacraments and records.

Meanwhile, Mr. Besime Robert, the Head of Laity at Kyamwiru Catholic Parish, thanked Archbishop Bainomugisha for visiting the parish and guiding the faithful. He urged young people to remain committed to serving God and living according to Christian values.
