Kira Division Police in Wakiso District is conducting an operation to find a group of unidentified criminals who recently broke into the home of a high-ranking official from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
On October 9, 2023, a break-in occurred at the residence of Caroline Marion Acio, a 46-year-old ODPP official, located in Mbalwa-Namugongo. The criminals targeted her official motor vehicle with the registration number UG 1217J.
Upon hearing unusual sounds in the compound, the victim promptly informed her husband, who, in turn, alerted their shamba boy (a farm worker) and raised an alarm. During a subsequent statement to the police, Acio described how the criminals vandalized her vehicle, damaging the computer system, side mirrors, front light indicators, and other components.
In another unrelated case, the police are also in pursuit of a stolen vehicle, a Toyota Rav4 with the registration number UAU 317B. The theft took place at the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association showgrounds in Lugogo and was reportedly carried out by unknown individuals. The vehicle belongs to members of Trust SACCO Finance Trust, Matugga, including Mary Kikonyogo Nabikanja, Charles Bugembe, Muhammed Ndugga, and an unidentified woman, who were attending the UMA annual Trade Fair.
During their investigation, the police learned that the individuals responsible for parking had issued a parking receipt to Bugembe, who was the driver, as his exit pass. However, Ndugga, one of the vehicle’s occupants, discovered that the car had gone missing under unclear circumstances. It was alleged that Ndugga, feeling unwell, had been given the car keys to rest inside while waiting for his colleagues.
As a result, two suspects, Bugembe and Ndugga, were briefly detained but were subsequently released on bond on October 10, 2023, after questioning by the police.
