RUBIRIZI, Uganda — St. Thomas Vocational Secondary School in Rubirizi District has celebrated exceptional academic performance after registering impressive results in the 2025 UCE and UACE examinations.
The celebrations were held at the school premises in Bururuma, Rutoto Sub-county, where school administrators, parents, and students gathered to mark the achievement.
Speaking at the event, the headteacher, Rev. Faaza Charles Niwagaba, commended learners and staff for their dedication, discipline, and hard work, which he said contributed to the outstanding results. He urged students to remain focused on their education, uphold discipline, and maintain faith in God as a source of knowledge and wisdom.
Rev. Niwagaba emphasized that the success reflects the school’s strong commitment to academic excellence, teamwork, and determination. He encouraged learners to stay disciplined, respect authority, and remain patient and persistent in pursuit of their goals.
He also called on parents to prioritize education and invest in their children’s future, including embracing vocational skills training. He noted that challenges such as poverty, domestic violence, and hunger should not hinder access to education, urging families to treat schooling as a key investment.
According to the Director of Studies, Mr. Ekaja Peter, the school’s strong performance was a result of collective effort among students, teachers, and parents. He highlighted that at A-level, four candidates scored 20 points, two scored 19 points, while others attained between 15 and 18 points.
Mr. Ekaja added that the school has been ranked among the top 100 schools in Uganda and emerged as the best-performing school in Rubirizi District. He said the institution is now aiming to break into the top 20 nationally, expressing confidence that the target is achievable.
During a thanksgiving mass, Rev. Dr. Faaza Adolf Mukaka of Komboni Hospital praised the school administration for creating a conducive learning environment. He encouraged students to remain focused on their studies and continue striving for excellence.
He also thanked parents for their continued support and urged students to respect and value both their parents and teachers, noting that discipline and commitment to studies are key to a brighter future.
The celebrations underscored St. Thomas Vocational Secondary School’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence, driven by strong leadership, committed staff, and determined learners.
