The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, has urged Christians to emulate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ if they are to inherit the Kingdom of God.
He made the remarks during a confirmation mass at Kakore Catholic Church Parish in Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda District, where he confirmed 326 Christians.
Bishop Rubaramira expressed concern over how some Christians have drifted away from God’s teachings through their behavior. He noted that while many profess Christianity publicly, their private actions contradict their faith. He cited examples such as alcohol abuse and gender-based violence, which he said have no place in the life of a true believer.
“A Christian must not only speak the word of God but also live by it. Faith must be seen in our actions, both in public and at home,” the Bishop emphasized.
He reminded the congregation that God gives each person unique gifts based on their abilities, and encouraged them to use those gifts to support and uplift others in the community.
The Bishop also called on parents and guardians to be role models of faith, especially for the younger generation. He stressed the importance of maintaining the spiritual light given at Baptism and nurturing it throughout life.
“After Baptism, Christians are entrusted with the responsibility to keep the light of faith burning—not just in their own lives, but also in their children,” he added.
