The Surveyors Registration Board in Uganda, which operates under the Surveyors Registration Act (Cap 275), governs the surveying profession and its practice. According to Section 1 of the Surveyors Registration Act, the term “Surveyor” encompasses various professionals, including Land Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Mining and Hydrological Surveyors, Valuation Surveyors, Land Agents, and others responsible for land and building management.

It is essential to note that practicing surveying in Uganda without a valid registration certificate and a current practicing certificate issued by the Surveyors Registration Board is illegal. Practicing certificates are issued annually upon application by a registered surveyor, and they expire on December 31st.

It is important for the general public and relevant authorities to be aware of this requirement and to request both certificates from individuals identifying themselves as surveyors in any of the aforementioned disciplines. The Surveyors Registration Board has published the list of registered surveyors with valid practicing licenses for the year 2023. For further details, please refer to the full list available on the official website of the Surveyors Registration Board at www.srb.go.ug.
