Boeing and Uganda Explore Aircraft Fleet Growth

President Yoweri K Museveni recently welcomed a delegation from Boeing, led by Mr. Kujit Ghata-Aura, the President of Boeing Africa, at State House Entebbe. The meeting centered around discussions regarding the expansion of the Uganda Airlines fleet to accommodate both cargo and passenger aircraft.

During the discussions, President Museveni expressed plans to increase the number of aircraft operated by Uganda Airlines. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for air travel within and beyond Uganda’s borders, supporting economic growth and connectivity.




In addition to fleet expansion, President Museveni welcomed the idea of conducting light maintenance of aircraft in Uganda. This initiative aligns with efforts to enhance the country’s aviation capabilities and infrastructure. Initially, the plan includes utilizing existing maintenance capacity in brotherly countries like Ethiopia until Uganda’s fleet grows to a size that allows for full maintenance operations within the country.




The meeting between President Museveni and the Boeing delegation underscored the mutual interest in advancing Uganda’s aviation sector.




According to as statement released by the office of the president, by exploring opportunities for fleet expansion and maintenance services, both parties demonstrated a commitment to enhancing air travel services and infrastructure in Uganda.

Stakeholders remain optimistic as discussions progress and plans are finalized, about the potential benefits of expanding Uganda Airlines’ fleet and developing local aviation capacity.

Aviation experts say the collaboration between Uganda and Boeing represents a significant step towards realizing these goals and furthering the country’s economic and social development through improved air transportation services.
