LUWEERO, Uganda — A tragic road accident in Luwero District has claimed the lives of a mother and her three-year-old daughter after a trailer truck lost control and rammed into their home in the early hours of the morning.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. in Ngogolo along the Gulu–Kampala highway. Preliminary investigations indicate that a trailer truck traveling from Gulu towards Kampala suffered a mechanical failure when the rear trailer (pulley) detached from the main truck.
The detached trailer reportedly veered off the road and crashed into a nearby residential house, killing Annet Nandhose and her young daughter instantly.
The deceased’s husband, Samuel Kigwe, and their son survived the crash but sustained injuries. Kigwe was rushed to Kasana Hospital in Luwero, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police further revealed that the trailer involved in the accident bore South Sudan registration number plates, raising questions about its mechanical condition and compliance with road safety regulations.
Authorities have since launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the detachment and to determine whether negligence or mechanical failure was responsible for the fatal crash.
