VP Alupo Joins Global Dignitaries at Ramaphosa's Inauguration in Pretoria

The Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, has arrived in South Africa to represent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the inauguration ceremony of H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, the newly elected president of South Africa.

Alupo was officially received at Oliver Tambo International Airport by Hon. Ronald Ozzy Lamola, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Services (ANC Member), and Uganda’s Ambassador to South Africa, Paul Amoru.

While being received, the Vice President congratulated South Africa on peacefully forming a government after a peaceful election.

South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa is due to be sworn in for a second term in office as president.

Lawmakers re-elected him to stay on as president last week following a deal between his African National Congress (ANC) to form a coalition government with the long-time rival Democratic Alliance (DA) and other parties.

Many heads of state and dignitaries from around the world are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony being held in the capital, Pretoria.
