Although the Teso region remains calm, with people going about their daily business, the environment for mobilising support for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and marketing the presidential ambitions of our next leader, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, remains challenging, with members of the general public actually turning hostile towards anyone wearing a PLU T-shirt or anything associated with Gen. Muhoozi.
On Wednesday, I was asked several questions about why I was wearing a shirt bearing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s photograph. But, of course, as a supporter of Kazi ni Kazi PLU, I stood firm, insisting that Gen. Elwelu was safe and that the President and our Badman General were working to resolve the issues.
That made me realise why some of our other PLU members, especially coordinators responsible for registering members, have vanished from the field. Others are even very quiet, as if they are not members of PLU.
On Wednesday afternoon in Kalaki, where Lt. Gen. Elwelu has a home, residents were looking for PLU coordinators to delete their names from the Patriotic League’s membership register.
Honestly, Teso had embraced PLU everywhere, and our Badman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba was a darling of Teso before this tsunami happened. Nevertheless, we shall remain firm as PLU supporters because I know those issues shall be resolved.
For this reason, I am humbly appealing to our Jaja Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and our Badman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to clear the air so that we, as PLU supporters, can have the confidence to market PLU smoothly.
Meanwhile, I would like to appeal to the Minister of Local Government, Mr Balaam, to continue with his anti-corruption crusade in the Teso region.
Hon. Balaam, let these issues not frustrate your earlier plans to visit Teso. I would also want you to go even as far as Serere District.
The war against corruption must continue despite these shortcomings because the thieves are jubilating, believing that the issues surrounding Gen. Elwelu will deter you from visiting the districts in Teso. Please prove them wrong.
