In the Teso region, anyone who wants to meet or seek assistance from the former Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, has to pass through the hands of the current two Members of Parliament, Hon. Herbert Edmond Ariko of Gweri and Patrick Aeku of Soroti County, but mostly Herbert Edmond Ariko.
Without the blessing of these two MPs, do not waste time thinking you will get an audience with Anita Among.
In most cases, even when Aeku also wants money from Anita Among, he first contacts Edmond Ariko, and the money is delivered quickly.
During the campaigns, the amount of money in sacks that was in Hon. Ariko’s car to give supporters daily was unbelievable.
Hon. Aeku was reportedly hiding behind the PLU, camouflaging as a supporter of the league when he was not.
In Lamwo, the contact person for Anita Among was Nancy Acora, the Woman Member of Parliament for Lamwo. At one time, Acora was reportedly keeping up to the tune of Shs 10bn in her house.
She was also working as a mobiliser for Anita Among in the rest of the Acholi region.
I am happy their names are among the MPs who have been summoned to record statements on the ongoing corruption surrounding the former Speaker of Parliament.
Being branches of Hon. Anita Among in Teso and Acholi, there is no way they can distance themselves from the ongoing saga. I am convinced that these three MPs and others, if their homes are searched properly, there could also be sacks of money in their houses.
