Many Ugandans are complaining about the alleged hostile environment caused by the persistent arrests ordered by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. I don’t think Gen Muhoozi just wakes up and starts ordering the arrest of everyone, including those who have done nothing wrong. Otherwise, if that were his intention, the whole population of Kampala would be in different prisons.
Gen Muhoozi, like any other human being, may not sit back and watch the endless insults and abuse directed at him by the same people he is protecting. Yes, he is a human being who is not immune to abuse and criticism, but to what extent should abusive language be used against him and his family? What level of disappointment justifies such abuse?
What I have observed is that the majority of people who are busy abusing Gen Muhoozi and his family on social media are still young. They have never experienced the hostile environment that Uganda had before the country was liberated under the leadership of Gen Museveni.
We should appreciate that ever since the NRA, under the command of Gen Museveni, came to power, Uganda has not experienced a full-scale war.
This is simply because of the commitment of the UPDF leadership to protecting Ugandans.
My humble request to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is that, no matter the insults you are receiving, please continue cleaning up the corrupt environment in Uganda.
