The head of the National Unity Platform, NUP, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has accused President Museveni and his son, the Chief of Defense Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, of attempting to bewitch him after their political attempts to defeat him fell short. He shared these assertions on his social media accounts and during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Makerere Kavule.
It is important to mention that a few days prior, security forces conducted a comprehensive raid on the party and seized various items, including computers and hard drives. However, according to Bobi Wine, certain items, like GPS trackers, were overlooked.
What was particularly startling were the witchcraft-like substances reportedly discovered hidden beneath the carpet at the party’s headquarters. Bobi Wine stated that the team is continuing to search the location for any other suspicious devices that could be utilized for surveillance on the party.
“A technical team has been sweeping our offices since yesterday to try and establish what the goons might have planted at our offices. While it’s difficult to establish, at this point, the full extent of damage, yesterday a GPS tracking device was found hidden behind the light of one of the vehicles we left at the premises, while in my office, they found a small camera and another gadget, the purpose of which we are yet to establish.”
“Sadly, we also found things that looked like fetishes (ebyawongo) hidden under the carpet. As the teams continue to do their work with diligence, we remain unmoved because of the justness of our cause and the correctness of our mission. WE SHALL CERTAINLY OVERCOME,” wrote Bobi Wine.
The veracity of these witchcraft claims remains uncertain. Nevertheless, as the 2026 general elections approach, the political atmosphere in the country is becoming increasingly charged.
