Streets in Katakwi were flooded with crowds on Thursday last week following the nomination of the State Minister for Education and Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, at the Electoral Commission offices in Katakwi District.

Ogwang, who is the incumbent MP for Ngariam County, expressed confidence in securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections. He urged the public to give 100 percent of their votes to both President Museveni and himself.

The Minister stated that in the next term, he would lobby for the construction of roads and dams, as well as the upgrading of health facilities and schools in Ngariam County.

Ogwang, who is the official NRM flag bearer, emerged victorious in the recently concluded party primaries with 35,076 votes, followed by Daniel Mulalu with 2,264 votes and Otuko Augustine with 1,888 votes.

Richard Ongorok, the official NRM flag bearer for the Usuk County parliamentary seat, urged his constituents to continue the tradition of voting for NRM candidates.

Ongorok will face Bosco Okiror, an independent candidate, in the upcoming general election.

Speaking to residents of Usuk, supporters vowed to mobilize for the party and encouraged others to vote for Ongorok.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Akiso, a candidate for Toroma County under the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket, pledged to uplift the standard of leadership in Toroma by advocating for human rights and good governance.
