In an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Daniels, who has been a vocal critic of Trump, stated that she was “shocked and ashamed” by the possibility that a convicted felon might secure a second term as president.
Daniels was particularly critical of the American electorate for not rejecting Trump’s candidacy, despite his legal troubles. “How is someone who’s found guilty or even charged with so many crimes allowed to run for political office?” she questioned. Daniels also expressed frustration that Trump’s divisive rhetoric, which she believes incites violence and hatred, has not been enough to dissuade voters from supporting him.
As Trump secured projected wins in crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, Daniels linked Harris’s apparent loss to racial bias. “You cannot tell me that it’s not because of racism that she did not win,” Daniels said, suggesting that racial prejudice has been a significant factor in the race.
Her criticisms come against the backdrop of her own contentious history with Trump. Daniels first made headlines in 2018 when she revealed that she had received hush money to keep silent about an alleged affair with Trump during the 2016 election. The payment, which was at the center of Trump’s criminal trial earlier this year, led to his conviction on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records.
Despite being found guilty, Trump’s legal troubles have not stopped him from continuing his presidential bid. Daniels, who testified in the trial while wearing a bulletproof vest, expressed disbelief that someone with a criminal record could still run for office. She described Trump as a “lunatic” and predicted that if he wins, he could seek “vengeance” on those who have criticized him, including herself. “Who knows what goes on in the mind of a lunatic?” Daniels remarked.
Daniels has also raised concerns that a second Trump presidency could lead to even more personal consequences for her. She previously warned that he might seek to have her tried for treason if re-elected. Despite her legal battles, including a defamation suit against Trump that she lost in 2018, Daniels remains a prominent figure in the ongoing political drama surrounding the former president.
