The Member of Parliament for Agago County, Hon. Lagen David Atuka, has commended most of the Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries in Agago for their collaborative efforts within the group Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs).

Lagen noted that Agago County alone has 43 parishes, resulting in 43 different PDM SACCOs in his constituency. He expressed satisfaction with the community’s cooperation during the processing of funds, stating, “They were really moving as a group and didn’t leave anyone behind until most of them were paid. I would like to thank them,” narrated MP David Atuka.

Above all, he cautioned group members in the different SACCOs to share ideas on the implementation of projects and discuss challenges in their respective enterprises, ensuring that no one is left behind.

He emphasized that PDM funds are refundable after two years, urging everyone to plan early to avoid surprises when the refunding period approaches. Atuka stressed the importance of using the funds wisely to alleviate poverty among the Wanahinci in Agago District.

MP Lagen David Atuka, the Agago County MP, advised all 43 SACCO beneficiaries of PDM to share ideas, including exchange visits in the future among different enterprises or group members. This would enable them to compare and learn from each other’s success stories.

Hon. David disclosed during a Wednesday evening telephone interview with the media that he is pleased with how the community in Agago County is implementing various projects identified using the one million shillings given to them, promising to visit them soon.

He urged the government to continue disbursing funds in a timely manner so that many people in different villages across the 43 parishes can benefit from PDM programs.

Atuka commended H.E. the president for the wise decision of introducing PDM, Emyoga, YLP, UWEP, among others, to eradicate poverty among the citizens of Uganda.

He warned that anyone found embezzling PDM funds in Agago should be apprehended and dealt with legally. As the people’s representative, he emphasized zero tolerance for corruption in the PDM funds being disbursed.

Agago District is among some of the districts still on the right track as far as PDM funds disbursement is concerned.
