Arua Diocese Mourns Sudden Death of Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Denis Isa Iranya

A somber atmosphere engulfed Arua Diocese as the news of the sudden death of Rev. Fr. Denis Isa Iranya, the parish priest of Holy Cross Indriani Pilgrim Centre Catholic Mission in Adjumani district, spread throughout the community. Fr. Iranya passed away on Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Hospital in Arua city after collapsing during a diocesan meeting.

The tragic incident was confirmed by Rev. Fr. Ben Drici, the parish priest of Pakele Catholic Parish and secretary for Pakele Denary, in a statement expressing deep sorrow. Fr. Drici conveyed the heart-wrenching news of the demise of the Dean and Parish Priest of Indriani, highlighting the suddenness of the priest’s passing.




Fr. Iranya collapsed during a meeting of diocesan Parish Priests at Christus Center in Ediofe Cathedral in Arua city, and despite being swiftly rushed to Pioneer Hospital, he succumbed to acute hypertension.




The late Fr. Denis Isa Iranya, affiliated with the Missionaries of Jesus the Divine Master congregation, previously served as the parish priest of St. Mary Assumpta Catholic Parish in Oleba, Maracha district, and Pakele Catholic Parish, among others.




Phillip Inziku, a member of Oleba Catholic Parish, fondly remembered Fr. Iranya as a dedicated and hardworking priest who played a pivotal role in laying a solid foundation for the development of the parish. Expressing shock at the news, Inziku conveyed heartfelt condolences and prayed for the peaceful repose of Fr. Iranya’s soul.

The untimely death of Rev. Fr. Denis Isa Iranya has left the Arua Diocese community in mourning, as they remember a clergyman known for his commitment and contributions to the Catholic mission. The loss is deeply felt by parishioners who hold fond memories of Fr. Iranya’s service and dedication.
