Speeding Car Claims Lives of Two Children in Kabale

Two siblings from the same family lost their lives when they were struck by a speeding car at Kabalisa cell, Katuna town council in Kabale District along the Kabale-Katuna road on Sunday evening. The tragic accident occurred as the juveniles attempted to cross the road.

The victims were identified as Winner Ainembabazi, 8, and Brilliant Tashobya, 13, both children of Edmond Tukasingura, according to Mr. Elly Maate, the police spokesman for the Kigezi sub-region.




The preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Premio car, driven by Moses Aliganyira, was traveling from Kabale town towards Katuna border when the fatal collision occurred. The two pedestrians lost their lives on the spot. Following the incident, the driver fled the scene but later turned himself in at Katuna Police Station.




Mr. Maate stated that the cause of the accident was attributed to careless driving. The tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the devastating consequences of reckless behavior on the roads.
