In an effort to decrease road accidents in Kamdini town along the Gulu-Kampala highway, the office of the RDC and Kamdini Town Council authority has begun enforcing one-way parking for truck drivers in Kamdini town.

This idea follows unsuccessful attempts by Kamdini Town Council last year to prevent trucks from parking on the streets.

During a meeting on Thursday, RDC of Oyam District, William Komakech, ordered all truck drivers to park on one side. For instance, any truck coming from Gulu city must park on the right side, similar to those coming from the Kampala side.

Meanwhile, trucks coming from Lira city must park on the left side of the Lira-Kamdini highway. Fuel tanker lorry drivers are not allowed to park on the street; their designated area is located 200 meters away in the town center along the Lira-Kamdini highway.

William Komakech, RDC of Oyam District, states that congestion on the streets caused by double parking by truck drivers is leading to accidents. He adds that enforcement officers will ensure all drivers follow the instructions.

In Kamdini town, over 100 trucks enter the area, making it a busy town council with a highway connecting truck drivers to South Sudan, North Uganda, and Eastern Uganda.
