Ms. Among highlighted the significance of a people-centric judiciary in fostering accountability, independence, and accessibility to justice. She underscored the need for transparency and public scrutiny of judicial processes to uphold legal standards and enhance public trust.
The theme of this year’s conference, “A People-Centered Approach to Justice,” reflects the judiciary’s commitment to placing citizens at the forefront of its operations. Ms. Among stressed that this approach should extend across all branches of government to ensure comprehensive public service delivery.
Additionally, she urged judicial officers to maintain professionalism, ethics, and decorum in their duties, emphasizing the obligation to provide fair and satisfactory service to the populace.
Ms. Among pledged unwavering support for the Judiciary’s strategic objectives outlined in the Judiciary Transformation Agenda (2020-2025). She highlighted recent legislative efforts aimed at improving judicial welfare and addressing case backlog, including the enactment of relevant acts to increase the number of judges.
Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo echoed the importance of cooperation among government branches for effective service delivery. He emphasized the need to uphold judicial independence while fostering collaborative relationships with other arms of government.
