A receptionist at a guest house in Katwe zone, Bugembe town, Jinja North City Division, was apprehended by police for allegedly providing a room to a 35-year-old man to sexually abuse his 14-year-old daughter.

The suspect, aged 20, allegedly failed to intervene or report the illicit activity despite being aware of it, according to Kiira region police spokesperson James Mubi.

Mubi emphasized the illegality of allowing individuals with minors into lodging facilities, highlighting the responsibility of lodge owners to prevent such occurrences.

Investigations revealed that the father had allegedly abused his daughter on numerous occasions, with reports indicating at least nine instances, including two incidents at the guest house and seven at his residence.

Concerned residents raised alarms after observing the father’s perceived preferential treatment towards his daughter compared to her siblings, leading to suspicions of incestuous behavior.

Fauza Namiiro, the chairperson of the women’s council for Katende-Triangle zone, condemned the father’s actions and emphasized the need for adherence to hotel regulations to prevent such incidents.

Harry Kasigwa, the managing director of Nile Village Hotel and a member of the Jinja city hotel owners’ association, supported the arrest, emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to rules and regulations governing the hospitality industry.
