The Minister for Internal Affairs, Major General Kahinda, has donated over 3 police uniports to the Inzuyamasaba. This donation follows a request placed before him by the Prime Minister of Inzuyamasaba, Rt. Hon. Charles Walimbwa Peke, on behalf of Umukuka III. A police uniport is a secure shelter made out of iron sheets that is normally used by those in the forces as an ad hoc place of abode or home.
Umukuka III of Inzuyamasaba, Jude Mike Mudoma, was full of praises for this donation and went on his Twitter handle to thank the Minister of Internal Affairs, Major Otafire, for bailing out the royal guards who are deployed to protect the cultural leader and other principals in the cultural institution.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Dr. Barnabas Rubanza, on average, one uniport goes for about 8,000,000 shillings or even beyond, and the three uniports can cost over 20,000,000 shillings.
The police uniports are meant to house the royal guards who are deployed by the government to protect the cultural leader.
The Prime Minister of Inzuyamasaba, Hon. Charles Walimbwa Peke, says that they have equally requested the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) to also help the Inzuyamasaba with more uniports. The Prime Minister says, “We need over 10; so far, we have 3 now delivered,” and says the Minister of Defense, Hon. Sempijja, will respond positively. By press time, the uniports were being erected at the Inzuyamasaba offices in Maluku, adjacent to Mbale District Local Government headquarters, and the royal guards were full of praises to the government.
Meanwhile, the Inzuyamasaba is undergoing an extensive facelift meant to cost about 100,000,000 shillings, and it is being funded by Bamasaba themselves. Umukuka III says he intends to also have a new palace constructed at the Mutoto cultural site at a cost of about 30 billion shillings, and there is a method in place on how they are going to raise funds.
