MTN Uganda, through its charitable arm, the MTN Foundation, donated tailoring, baking, and hairdressing equipment, along with other essential resources valued at Shs 17 million to the Nottingham Trent Skilling Center on March 7th.
This donation represents a pivotal moment in MTN Uganda’s collaboration with the Tusitukire Wamu Development Association, underscoring the company’s dedication to fostering digital innovation for national advancement as outlined in its “Ambition 2025” strategy.
The partnership reflects the strategy’s ethos of “Together, We’re Unstoppable,” showcasing a deep commitment to community empowerment and technological progress. This initiative forms part of the MTN Changemakers program, inaugurated in July of the previous year, which aims to bolster grassroots projects with significant impacts on their respective communities.
The Nottingham Trent Skilling Center, which benefits from this support, stands as a beacon of transformation and empowerment. Managed by the Tusitukire Wamu Development Association, the center offers vital skills training in tailoring, baking, and hairdressing to over 300 individuals, with a particular focus on school dropouts, teenage mothers, youths, persons with disabilities, and disadvantaged boys.
Zakiyu Kikomeko, representing MTN Uganda, emphasized that MTN’s partnership with the Tusitukire Wamu Development Association underscores its unwavering commitment to community development and empowerment.
Under the Changemakers program, the MTN Foundation has allocated Shs 500 million to support 25 initiatives across Uganda’s five sub-regions, furthering its mission to drive positive change and uplift communities.
