Political tension has risen in Otuke as UPC’s popular political aspirant has made a real political comeback to the race, eyeing the Otuke County MP seat in the year 2026. In a bid to promote his political ambitions and work closely with the ‘Wanahinci’ in Otuke district, Mr. Abongo Jasper, who is contesting under the UPC party ticket, has outlined several of his manifestos for the people of Otuke county come the 2026 general elections.

His plans (Manifesto) for the people of Otuke county are outlined below:

  1. Economic empowerment, through community sensitization for mindset change and improving conditions for Boda Boda operators, market vendors, and the welfare of orphans and widows through lobbying efforts.
  2. Over the last three years, Abong has tremendously improved coordination in healthcare promotion (subsidies on medical services and awareness creation), where over 170 patients have received treatment in various locations such as Lacor Mulago in Kampala and other areas.
  3. Taken 172 people from different parts of Otuke to Kampala for various medical services.
  4. At Orum Health Centre IV, over 500 people received different services such as cancer screening and testing, HIV & AIDS, and Family Planning services.
  5. Okwongo HC3, in Adwari, served about 500 people in a single day.
  6. Okwang Health Centre III served 273 people with different services through his efforts.

Jasper told The Ankole Times  that a key agenda for him is the promotion of sports activities for both men and women, and above all, looking forward to connecting local clubs within Otuke district to the national and international level through sponsorship of talent identification and rewarding great talents in a meaningful way.
Notably in his manifestos is the provision of clean water, especially by repairing several boreholes that have broken down in Otuke County. This will include boreholes in schools, villages, and institutions among others.

He has strong connections to the UPC party leadership and hopes that by 2026, the party will have him as an MP in the 12th Parliament of the Republic of Uganda. He promises real service delivery, including improving the level of education and road network among many other points in his manifesto.

Abong Jasper contested in the 2021 general election and this time around has made a serious comeback to challenge the incumbent MP Paul Omara.
